Paris Hilton Accepts Plea Deal

Paris Hilton does it again. E! News reports that the celebutante has accepted a plea deal that includes pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer.
In return, she avoids being charged with felony cocaine possession and gets two consecutive six-month jail sentences suspended. Translation: Paris won't have to spend a night in jail.

"We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future," Clark County District Attorney David Roger told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble, she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center."
Paris reportedly will enter her plea on Monday. She will be on probation for one year, have to complete a drug abuse program, pay a fine of $2000, and complete 200 hours of community service (brace yourself for those pictures- LOL).
Does this sound fair to you or do you want to see Paris serve some time? Honestly, I think you could stick Paris in jail for five years, and it wouldn't change a thing.

Michael Jackson's 'Moonwalker' To Get U.S. Theater Debut?

A Hollywood cinema is searching for a print of MJ's 1988 film with plans to give it a 'one night only' screening.By James Montgomery

Michael Jackson's short-film anthology "Moonwalker" may finally get a debut theatrical screening in the United States more than 20 years after it was released.
Back in 1988, MJ first unveiled the ambitious project, which contained several long-form videos for songs off his then-just-released Bad album, including his famous 25-minute clip for "Smooth Criminal." The film had been scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters that Christmas, but for whatever reason, that plan was scrapped. The movie was released on VHS early in 1989, and — surprise, surprise — became a massive success. But now, more than two decades after its debut, one theater is planning to give "Moonwalker"
a proper premiere here in the States.

According to TMZ, Hollywood's Arclight Cinemas is actively searching for a print of the film, with plans to show it on the big screen ... for one night only.
The idea came after Jackson fans flooded Arclight's Facebook page with requests to show "Moonwalker," and the theater is now on the hunt for a copy of the flick. Even if the search is successful, there's no word on when the premiere would occur. The theater had not responded to MTV News' e-mail seeking a comment by press time.
However, Jackson fans might not want to hold their breath. In a follow-up story, TMZ reported that the late singer's estate had blocked Arclight's attempts to secure a print of the film, with a spokesperson for the theater telling the website: "We contacted the film's directors and producers and were finally directed to MJ's estate attorney [who] let us know the estate has the [film's] rights but have no plans to make ... prints available for rent at this time."
"Moonwalker" features videos for Jackson tracks like "Speed Demon" (directed by Claymation innovator Will Vinton), "Leave Me Alone" (which was released as a promo and won Jackson a 1989 Grammy for Best Music Video, Short Form) and, as mentioned, the iconic "Criminal," which features Jackson battling a group of mobsters led by Joe Pesci.
The flick also served as the inspiration for the super-awesome Sega game "Moonwalker, which featured a digital MJ morphing into a laser-blasting robot with the aid of his chimpanzee pal, Bubbles.
Would you go see a theatrical screening of Jackson's "Moonwalker" film? Tell us in the comments.

While they've never spoken publicly about dating one another, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez proudly had their relationship on display when they hit up the famous Vanity Fair Oscar party right after the 83rd Academy Awards telecast wrapped.

The pair didn't do press on the red carpet, but they looked relaxed as they posed together for pictures. Bieber's arm was around Gomez's waist as they smiled for photos. She was wearing a red Grecian-style gown. Bieber was in an all-black tuxedo with a red pocket square, matching his date for the night. They took photos as a pair, but also individually. Inside the party, Bieber and Gomez posed for pictures with fellow teen star Hailee Steinfeld, held hands and looked at each other's phones while they texted inside the fete.
The glamorous party was attended by some of Hollywood's biggest names, including Gwyneth Paltrow, besties Taylor Swift and Emma Stone, couples like Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, as well as Oscar winner Natalie Portman and her beau, Benjamin Millepied. Among the other A-listers there were Jamie Foxx, Jake Gyllenhaal, 50 Cent, Reese Witherspoon, Michelle Williams and Jennifer Hudson, to name a few.
"Good luck to my friend Hailee Steinfeld tonight on the #oscars. young people going for theirs! also want Christian Bale to win. #TheFighter," Bieber tweeted early on Sunday, before adding this message about his fame: "im never gonna change ... i will always remember ... i will always be that kid from Stratford ... I will always be grateful."
For her part, Gomez simply tweeted, "Vanity Fair fun!" She included a photo of herself with Bieber, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, and his date.

Andre 3000 Pops Up On Ke$ha's 'Sleazy' Remix

Outkast MC freshens up the pop star's Cannibal cut with rare feature.By Mawuse Ziegbe

Andre 3000

It seems the only way to find spankin'-new Andre 3000 lyrics these days is on the odd remix, and the ATLien definitely picked a left-of-center choice for his latest feature.
On Friday (January 14), a remix of Ke$ha's Cannibal track "Sleazy" hit the Web, outfitted with some brand-new bars from the elusive Outkast MC. The southern spitter uses the revamp to muse about a young kid dealing with a deadbeat dad over the song's bouncy thump.
"We start out so cute in our baby pictures/ That mama shot for our daddy so that he wouldn't forget you/ He forgot anyway, but hey, one day he'll remember/ If not, he's human, I'm human, you human, we'll forgive him," he spits.
After sounding off about daddy issues, Stacks then rhymes about his playful relationship with the glitter-friendly poptress.
"I call her Keisha, she like it because it's hood to her/ She call me Andre 6000 because I'm good to her," he says.
The remix follows a slew of random guest appearances on records by everyone from DJ Unk to Rich Boy as fans await another full-length release from 'Dre. Back in 2008, the Love Below lyricist broke down his affinity for jumping on the occasional remix to MTV News, explaining that cooking up another quality solo record is no easy task.
"I've been doing remixes here and there, and let me tell you, thank God for remixes. I wanna tell everybody who's been checking out the remixes and things like the John Legend song ['Green Light']: In this day and age, those are the things that have kind of been keeping me alive. Because it takes me awhile to record albums," he said. "I have to kind of build up something to say."
What do you think of Andre 3000's verse on Ke$ha's "Sleazy" remix? Let us know in the comments!

Beyonce's Mom Says Daughter's Style Has Always Been 'Edgy'

'It's just a result of her constantly evolving,' Tina Knowles says of the fashion in Beyonce's "I Am ... World Tour" DVD concert special.By Jocelyn Vena

Beyoncé

Photo: Paul Warner/ WireImage

Beyoncé has never been shy about hitting the stage in stunning costumes. Her appearance has always been a mixture of showgirl sparkle and pop star razzle-dazzle. And her style is on full display in her new DVD concert special, "I Am ... World Tour."

Her mom and stylist, Tina Knowles, said that while the looks may seem a bit edgier than what fans have seen from the singer in the past, she thinks that her superstar daughter has always been ahead of the style curve.
"Well, the wonderful Thierry Mugler designed the costumes, and I actually worked on some of the dancers and the band, and it was just amazing to work with him because he is so creative," Knowles told MTV News at a New York screening of the special. "So it's just a result of her constantly evolving, but she's been edgy. It's funny for people to say she went more edgy, but she's been wearing body suits and that type of thing."
And while Knowles may act as her daughter's stylist and costume designer, she says that Bey's style decisions are all her own. "Well, we discussed her working with Thierry Mugler, and I'm the biggest fan. And so she had seen some of the fashions and she loved it," she said. "So we always discuss things, but it's her decision, it's her career."
Beyoncé, who also directed the concert special , said it gave her a better understanding of the filmmaking process. "It was hard work," she said. "I learned so much. I have a new respect for directors and I think I would like to do more of it. ... Well, I've done some co-directing for music videos [but] this was definitely a big step for me, and I'm so thrilled."

Beyonce May Work With Diplo, Sleigh Bells On New Album

Producer says he was 'in NYC tryin' to make tracks' for B and Bells' songwriter/guitarist.By James Montgomery

Beyonce

Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage

Over the years, Diplo has worked with everyone from Thom Yorke to Spank Rock (and, of course, M.I.A.) so perhaps it should come as no surprise that, for his next collaboration, he's chosen to work with none other than Beyoncé. Oh, and electro-slammers Sleigh Bells, too. It all makes sense, in some bizarre way.
This is according to Dip himself, who posted a message — and a remix of the Sleigh Bells track "Tell 'Em" — on his blog, in which he let it be known that he, his production partner Switch and Sleigh Bells' songwriter/guitarist Derek Miller just wrapped sessions for Beyoncé's follow-up to I Am ... Sasha Fierce. He wasn't quite sure what would come of the tracks they created.
"Me and Switch was in [the] studio in NYC tryin' to make tracks with Derek and Beyoncé last week after we played her team [Sleigh Bells'] album," Diplo wrote. "Dunno if we gonna manage to finish, but [it] was good times."
At the very least, you know Bey's husband, indie-rock fan Jay-Z, is pumped by the news. Diplo is just the latest in an ever-growing list of top-flight producers who have worked with Beyoncé in recent months. There's still no release date or tentative title for her upcoming album, but she's logged studio time with the likes of S1 (he of "Power" fame), Ne-Yo, Sean Garrett and Jim Jonsin.
A spokesperson for Beyoncé did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the Diplo tracks by press time.

Mark Ruffalo Reveals Hulk Re-Design For 'Avengers'

'All the features are mine, just really big,' actor says of new look. By Shawn Adler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Mark Ruffalo

Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty

Mark Ruffalo will soon join Edward Norton and Eric Bana as the third actor to portray Dr. Bruce Banner in as many big-screen adventures, but when the Incredible Hulk finally lines up next to Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the rest of Marvel's mightiest to take on evils no single one of them can handle on their own, it won't just be the good doctor you'll have trouble recognizing: It might be the jade giant himself.

"The Avengers" will diverge from previous versions of the character and feature its own re-designed rendering of the green behemoth to more accurately reflect the new actor playing him, Ruffalo revealed to MTV News on the red carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Ruffalo said the character's designers are working hard to make the Hulk look like him: "All the features are mine, just really big. I got to see the maquette of the Hulk yesterday in full scope, and it's awesome."
The re-design makes the most of new technology being utilized for the flick, with Ruffalo donning performance-capture suits akin to the ones used by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana for "Avatar." According to the Oscar-nominated actor, it'll be the first time the same actor has played both incarnations of the character.
"I'll be playing it. I'm the first actor to actually do it in motion capture as the Hulk," he said.
Back when the project was initially announced, rumors swirled that the Hulk might actually start out as the villain, tricked perhaps by Loki, as he did when the Avengers first assembled in comics.
While predictably tight-lipped about his role in the plot, Ruffalo did compliment the script, insisting that the film was right "in [director] Joss Whedon's wheelhouse."
"It's cool. It's gonna be great," he enthused. "The script is a nice combination of funny with pathos."

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Video Premieres Monday

Clip makes its TV debut at 5 p.m. ET on MTV's 'The Seven.'By Jocelyn Vena

The time is finally here, Little Monsters! Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" video will premiere on Monday.
The Nick Knight-directed video (which also had some directing assistance from Gaga, her Haus creative team and choreographer Laurieann Gibson) will make its TV debut at 5 p.m. ET on MTV's "The Seven" and will hit the Web at 11 a.m. ET that same day when it premieres on Perez Hilton's website.
Gaga hinted at the premiere late Wednesday night, when she tweeted, "You did it Monsters! Born This Way is #1 in 14 countries + were #1 again on Hot 100! Thank you for believing! Video Monday 28th 11am Est."
Perez Hilton further reports that another cut of the video featuring an acoustic version of the single will be available on iTunes at a later time. All proceeds from that clip will go to charity.
When "The Seven" caught up with Gibson recently, she spoke very highly of the video. "I will tell you it is a life-changing experience," the choreographer said. "You can expect the highest level of execution in vocal music art and dance ... but you will be shocked."
Gaga herself confirmed that sentiment in a recent radio interview, saying the video is about "the birth of a new race within the race of humanity. The birth of a new race that doesn't bear any prejudices. I think the most important thing is that I continue to grow, and I knew when I put [out] 'BTW' it would be a transitional moment, because it doesn't sound like [my previous singles]."

Anne Hathaway Will Be 'Wonderful' In 'Dark Knight Rises,' Says Aaron Eckhart

At the Independent Spirit Awards, the 'Dark Knight' villain is gracious about being left out of third film.By Brian Warmoth, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Aaron Eckhart

Photo: Jeff Vespa/ WireImage

Director Christopher Nolan told Aaron Eckhart personally that "Dark Knight Rises" script wouldn't have a part for him. Eckhart took the news in stride, though, and the nominee for Best Male Lead at Saturday night's (February 26) Independent Spirit Awards said he expects the movie will do just fine without him — even if Nolan won't tell him what will be going down onscreen.

"I was just with Chris, and he's pretty tight-lipped about things," Eckhart told MTV News on the red carpet outside the Spirit Awards.
The man who played Harvey Dent and ushered the character into madness as Two-Face in "The Dark Knight" wouldn't admit to disappointment over not returning for the new Batman sequel. In fact, he claimed to have seen Two-Face's omission coming.
"I never intended to come back," Eckhart said. "That's Heath [Ledger]'s movie. It should live solo, and Chris is gonna go on."
Nolan's third Batman movie will include , best known in the Batman universe for her villainess alter ego Catwoman. Eckhart expressed high hopes for her.
"I think Anne Hathaway is going to be wonderful," Eckhart stated. The closest he would come to complaining about his absence from "The Dark Knight Rises" was to joke about sucker-punching Nolan after hearing that Harvey Dent wouldn't appear.
Eckhart lost in the Male Lead category to "127 Hours" star James Franco at the Spirit Awards, though judging by the gracious response he gave about the Bat-films going on without him, he seemed like he must be at ease with passing the spotlight around.
Eckhart made himself available last year, just in case Nolan had a change of heart, but now that the script is getting finished, and the big remaining casting searches seem to be limited to females, it's probably safe to consider Eckhart politely and amicably finished as a Bat-villain.

While Willow Smith is the one who made music headlines with "Whip My Hair" last year, it's her brother, "Karate Kid" actor Jaden Smith, who will take the stage at the upcoming 53rd Grammy Awards in a special performance alongside Usher and Justin Bieber, with whom he collaborated on the song "Never Say Never" last summer.
The trio joins a list of new performers added to the show on Thursday (January 20) that will also include another power trifecta made up of B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Janelle Monáe, according to a press release from the Recording Academy announcing the additions to the February 13 telecast from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Also taking the stage next month will be nominees Muse and Lady Antebellum. They will join a roster of previously announced performers that includes Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Arcade Fire, Cee Lo Green and Miranda Lambert. It will be the first time on the Grammy performance stage for Bieber, B.o.B, Lambert, Mars, Monáe, Muse and Smith. Eminem, Green, Gaga, Perry, Usher and Lady Antebellum will be making return visits for the occasion.
While 11-time Grammy winner Eminem leads the pack in nominations this year (with 10 nods), Mars has seven nominations, and Gaga and Lady Antebellum are not far behind with six nods each. B.o.B has notched five, Perry and Green are each up for four, and Arcade Fire and Lambert are vying for three awards. Bieber, Muse, Usher and Monáe are each nominated for two Grammys.
No details of the collaborative performances were released, but the Grammy announcement promised a rare, never-before-seen event for the Mars, B.o.B and Monáe segment.
With the addition of Antebellum, all five Album of the Year nominees (Eminem, Arcade Fire, Gaga, Perry) are now scheduled to perform on the show. Additional performers, presenters and special segments will be announced soon.

Patrick Stump Says Truant Wave EP Isn't Take This To Your Grave, Part II

Erstwhile Fall Out Boy frontman's solo EP made iTunes debut Tuesday.By James Montgomery

Patrick Stump

Photo: Michael Caulfield/WireImage

Late last year, when Patrick Stump told MTV News that his solo debut, Soul Punk, was tentatively due in February, there was much rejoicing from long-suffering Fall Out Boy fans, all of whom were clamoring for any bit of news surrounding their favorite group.
Of course, that rejoicing was tempered some when it was subsequently announced that Stump had pushed back Soul Punk in favor of a six-song EP called Truant Wave. And on Tuesday, with little lead-up and absolutely zero promotion, that EP premiered on iTunes. It not only provided FOB fans a preview of where Stump is headed, musically, but also served as a point of division among their ranks. Some loved the electronic-leaning, R&B-teasing jams, while others, well, they were probably hoping Stump would return to his pop-punk roots.

When he spoke to MTV News on Thursday, Stump addressed both sides of the issue, because, quite frankly, he understands why some would be upset by his new direction. In fact, that's part of the reason he put out Truant Wave in the first place: to soften the blow.
"I really want Soul Punk to have as much of a chance to have it be listened to discerningly," he laughed. "And if I'm going to disappoint people by not [making] Take This to Your Grave, Part II, I would rather do that before Soul Punk, because that record means something to me."
Of course, there were other reasons for rushing the EP out, most of which he learned the hard way during Fall Out Boy's final days.
"Remember when Fall Out boy was putting out Folie à Deux and were going to put it out on Election Day, and then, for all these various reasons, all signs pointed to 'Don't do this'? That was sort of the case here. The logistics just weren't lining up," he explained. "And I had way too much material. ... A lot of it didn't make sense on the record, but it still felt like something, so I made a little mini-record out of them, and it sort of became a concept record for me. So for all those reasons and more, I decided, 'Screw it, I'm going to put this out.' "
So, yes, Soul Punk is still coming, but in the meantime, Stump hopes fans will take the time to digest the tunes he's presenting on Truant Wave, a shiny menagerie of rubber-band funk, electro-pop and spacey, 23rd-century R&B that's also, as Stump explained, a bit of a concept record too.
"It's not as strict a concept album in that I don't have a narrator or epic space battles or anything like that. It's pretty bare-bones and it works as a pop record," he said. "Basically, I took this idealistic, naive little character, and at the beginning of the record, he has the best intentions, the highest hopes, and, as you get towards the middle of the record, he's just such an a--hole. And then the character gets really dark, and then, at the end, I envisioned him being really down and out in Hollywood, like drunk and telling someone, 'Look, kid, don't make the same mistakes I did.' ... It has a narrative, but it's not like I named the characters or know anything about these things."
So, for now, with his EP just out and a sold-out run of shows on the horizon, Stump is content to sit back and watch fans figure out his new direction. And, at the moment, he couldn't be happier with the results.
"I told people about this record a week ago, two weeks ago, there was no promo, no press, nothing, so, for it to do as well as it has, it's definitely gratifying," he said. "In the back of my head, there's always this little voice that's like, 'Just don't blow it,' and so far, so good, you know?"
Have you checked out Patrick Stump's EP yet? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio Lead Flurry Of Movie Remakes

Russell Brand, Willow Smith, Jonah Hill are just a few stars looking to revamp film and TV classics like 'Arthur', 'Annie' and '21 Jump Street.'By Terri Schwartz

What do Willow Smith and Beyoncé have in common with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Kenny Wormald? They're all starring (or in talks to star) in the latest round of remakes of beloved films and TV shows coming down the pike.
On Thursday, news broke that Beyoncé would be starring in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the 1976 Barbra Streisand classic "A Star Is Born" (which was a remake of a 1954 movie that remade a 1937 film). In the meantime, Will Smith is reportedly petitioning Sony to remake "Annie" (the 1982 movie and 1977 musical) starring his 10-year-old daughter, Willow, best known for whipping her hair.
In October it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and best bud Tobey Maguire would be starring in Baz Luhrmann's 3-D retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby," with Carey Mulligan joining as Daisy Buchanan.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have been working on bringing the '80s Johnny Depp-starring television series "21 Jump Street" to the big screen since 2008, and they might even get Depp to cameo in it in time for the film's March 16, 2012, release date.
And let's not forget the long hunt for a Ren McCormack (the character Kevin Bacon made famous in 1984), after Zac Efron and Chace Crawford dropped out of the planned "Footloose" remake that finally landed dancer Kenny Wormald the role of his life.
Then there's "Arthur," the Russell Brand-starring remake of the 1981 screwball comedy about a happily drunk millionaire who risks everything for love. The film has tapped everyone from Helen Mirren to Greta Gerwig and Nick Nolte.
Two recently announced remakes are "Lethal Weapon" and "The Wizard of Oz," which are still in early development and without stars attached. Warner Bros. announced their plans to reboot the Mel Gibson-starring franchise on Thursday and tapped writer Will Beall to pen the script with completely new characters. And director Robert Zemeckis announced back in November that he planned on remaking the 1939 Technicolor classic using the script from the original film, with Warner Bros. hoping Robert Downey Jr. will play Oz.
Just this past year, films from "Clash of the Titans" to "The Karate Kid" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" were remade for the big screen and were well-received by audiences. "Alice in Wonderland" and "Clash of the Titans" went on to become two of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010, while "Piranha 3D" and "The A-Team" also went on to strong successes, proving that there definitely is a market for these kinds of remakes.

Justin Bieber's Haircut: Fans Weigh In!

While many Beliebers are gushing over his 'sexy,' 'older' cut, others tell MTV News they miss his signature 'swoop.'By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber

Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage

This week Justin Bieber made headlines thanks to a new haircut. The Biebs had his famous swooping bangs cut into a shorter, cropped look, and he told talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres he doesn't "really care" what people have to say about his 'do.
But his fans have been weighing in on the new hairstyle anyway, and many of them approve of the haircut.

"I really like it and it actually makes him look older!!!! And for all u down there hating on Bieber well if it was Angelina Jolie I'm sure you'd have something to say so don't hate 'cause he's sexy and he ain't even legal yet," Amanda wrote on MTV.com.
Lilia added, "AAh, he looks better with the new hair! Suits him!"
Beliebers have been debating the star's latest look since he debuted it earlier this week. Coote noted on our site that Bieber is much more than a head of hair. "I think he [looks] sexy ... i don't love him for his hair... i love him because he is sweet, cute and perfect," Coote wrote.
MTV News also took to the streets of New York City to see whether people preferred the "Never Say Never" star's old look or the new one.
"I like it, I think it looks good on him," Catherine said of Bieber's longtime haircut. She added about the brand-new cut: "I like it better than the other one, but I think that a lot of his fans liked the [old] one. ... Everyone loves him for his hair and now he doesn't have it anymore."
Meanwhile, Tiffany loved the original but was blown away by the new version. "I think it's very Bieberish, I like that long swoop. It definitely works for him," Tiffany said before we showed her the updated look. "Oh my god! It's such a transformation! I just love it! He looks so much older!"
"It's just beautiful," Christina explained of the old 'do. "I liked him with his longer hair better. That's just who he was discovered as."
"He looks a little geeky," Sofia said of his famous original hairdo. "It's much better," she said of the cropped cut. "He doesn't look like my brother anymore. He looks five years older. He's so cute."
Which do you prefer: Bieber's long locks or his cropped cut? Tell us in the comments!

James Franco, Anne Hathaway Shoot 'Grease' Homage For Oscars

Grainy '60s-style clip is part of a series of free-form videos this year's hosts have posted online.By Eric Ditzian

Anne Hathaway and James Franco in an homage to "Grease"

Photo: James Franco's YouTube

Those wacky kids and their Interwebs! As befits two of the youngest Oscar hosts in history, James Franco and Anne Hathaway have offered a strong online presence in the run-up to Sunday's main event.
Last month the duo put out two promos in which they sweetly, and often haplessly, attempted to prepare for the emcee gig. And Franco has been posting free-form videos on Funny or Die — singing a tune by '70s British pop group Kursaal Flyers while receiving a shave and hitting up Judd Apatow for advice about how to host an awards ceremony. Now, via his Twitter account, Franco has posted another video, one that appears to have at least been shot as part of the Oscars, though there's no word if it'll hit the airwaves.
The 19-second clip is an homage to "Grease," with Franco as Danny Zuko and Hathaway as Sandy Olsson, during the film's climactic carnival scene. Made to look like a vintage film, complete with fuzzy color and grainy editing lines, the video is dialogue-free and set to a simple soundtrack. The whole thing has a slightly homemade movie feel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, there's no word if the footage will be rolled into Sunday night's 83rd annual Academy Awards ceremony. The video does, however, give us a clue as to the potential nature of the hosts' opening number: It might well feature Franco and Hathaway inserting themselves into past movies. That concept jibes with what producers are describing as the show's virtual-reality set, in which "projections" will give the ceremony an ever-changing look and allow the hosts to carry viewers though "through Hollywood history with six or seven scenic transitions," as THR put it earlier this week.
Will it be a regal evening for "The King's Speech"? Can "The Social Network" dial up Oscar gold? Don't miss MTV News' "2011 Oscars Live" at 6 p.m. Sunday, February 27, when we'll be chatting with your favorite Hollywood stars live from the red carpet on MTVNews.com, and stick with us all Oscar night for winners, interviews, photos and more!

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Ordered To Stand Trial

Murray faces manslaughter charges in the singer's death; his medical license has also been suspended.By Kara Warner

Dr. Conrad Murray has been ordered to stand trial for manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.
According to The Associated Press, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor made the decision after a six-day preliminary hearing during which witnesses testified that the Houston cardiologist administered a dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol and other sedatives then left the pop star unmonitored.
During the course of the hearing, testimony was given that Murray ordered hundreds of bottles of propofol in the months before Jackson's death. The AP report also cited the fact that the prosecutors concluded their case with testimony from two doctors who said Murray acted outside the standard of medical care when he administered propofol and failed to provide proper care.
Other damning testimony included that of Jackson's bodyguard, who said that on the morning of the singer's death, it appeared that Murray didn't know how to administer CPR to his dying patient.
Judge Pastor also granted a request by the California Medical Board to suspend Murray's license to practice medicine in the state. Pastor said he made the decision in the interest of public safety and ordered Murray to notify every district in which he practices of the decision within 24 hours. Murray has clinics in Houston and Las Vegas.
Murray, 57, has pleaded not guilty, and his attorneys have argued that he did not give Jackson anything that should have killed him. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

'Hall Pass': The Reviews Are In!

The critics weigh in on whether Farrelly brothers' latest is worth getting out of class.By Eric Ditzian

Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson in "Hall Pass"

Photo: New Line Cinema

Last weekend, Liam Neeson's "Unknown" pulled off a surprise box-office win after "I Am Number Four" failed to attract even a fraction of its "Twilight"-obsessed target audience. This weekend, though, we can be relatively certain which film will land in the top spot. For the first time since 2000's "Me, Myself & Irene," Bobby and Peter Farrelly should be able to nab the weekend's #1 slot with their new comedy, "Hall Pass."
Like "Unknown," the film has received mixed reviews, but in these early, often barren months at the multiplex, that hardly matters. Check out what the critics are saying about "Hall Pass."

The Story
"Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are a pair of husbands whose marriages are, at this point, held together by their urges to check out other women. Their wives, Maggie (Jenna Fischer) and Grace (Christina Applegate), are as bored with their husbands' straying eyes as their husbands are with marriage. Rick and Fred are released back into the wild by their wives, Lucy and Ethel — I mean, Maggie and Grace — and given a week free of marriage responsibility. The men are allowed seven days to pursue the girls of their dreams. It's charming that 'Pass' realizes how flimsy it is, conceptually; the women causing the domestic tedium are played by actresses who, when they were dewier, played the girls that caused men to drive into trees — a throwaway joke itself. And the movie is self-aware enough to toy with the misogyny of its premise; Maggie and Grace suspect their men wouldn't know what to do with freedom." — Elvis Mitchell, Movieline
The Performances
" 'Hall Pass' presents these men as a new archetype: the frustrated middle-aged husband as randy adolescent virgin. Wilson, geeked out in super-square hair, knows how to use his gentleness to turn himself into a figure of soft desperation. And 'Saturday Night Live' 's Sudeikis, in his first major movie role, has an agreeably dorky, bootlicking officiousness. (Fred thinks that he's scored a victory if he figures out how to look at a woman's behind without his wife seeing him.) They are so domesticated, the joke is they don't even know their pent-up sexual frustration is driving them nuts." — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
The Laughs and the Look
"The slapstick and action comedy interludes are haphazardly executed at best, and matters aren't helped by the film's incredibly ugly look; for whatever reason, the productions from New Line Cinema since its absorption by Warner Bros. appear poorly lighted, processed and/or printed, resulting in blotchy, bleachy results that do no favors to the actors." — Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter
The Dissenters
"Like many comedies, 'Hall Pass' is more a succession of gags and skits than an actual movie; when it reaches for something more than low-rent laughs, it really slips. The attempted commentary on love, fidelity and appreciation are off-putting, a side plot about a violent psycho simply bizarre. Wilson doesn't seem to be trying, and Fischer and Applegate, typically game for anything, are given nothing worthwhile to do. What laughs there are come mostly courtesy of Sudeikis and, of all people, Richard Jenkins in a surprising role. Also, the description 'gross-out comedy' has rarely been more apt. Except maybe for the comedy part." — Bill Goodykoontz, The Arizona Republic
How Does It Compare to Past Farrelly Flicks?
"Those cheerful shlockmeisters Peter and Bobby Farrelly, who co-wrote and directed the film, are more laid-back here than they were in 'There's Something About Mary,' 'Kingpin' or 'Dumb and Dumber.' They make you laugh at some pretty revolting things, and the ratio of sexual/scatological giggles to groaners is high. But the brothers dialed back the lewd lunatic energy that is their signature. The film's longest-running gag is that the men, sprung from the straitjacket of monogamy, leer at almost every woman they get near, but are too square and meek to score." — Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune

50 Cent's 'Things Fall Apart' Premieres In Miami Next Week

Fif reportedly lost 50 pounds for Mario Van Peebles-directed film.By Alvin Blanco

It may have taken 50 Cent losing pounds to be recognized as a weighty actor. The film "Things Fall Apart," which stars 50 Cent as a college football player stricken with cancer, will make its world premiere March 5 at the Miami International Film Festival.
Last year, 50 Cent drew headlines over his commitment to playing the role of Deon Barnes, a University of Michigan football player whose hopes of an NFL career are derailed by a cancer diagnoses. For the role, 50 Cent reportedly lost more than 50 pounds. Stills from the film, directed by Mario Van Peebles, revealed that the rapper looking shockingly emaciated and nearly unrecognizable.
"50 Cent's physical transformation combined with Mario's vision for the film kept the story fresh, gritty and powerful," Miami International Film Festival Executive Director Jaie Laplante told AllHipHop.com. "Fans in Miami will have a unique opportunity to see the film well before the rest of the world does."
The film also lightened the Queens rapper's pockets, since besides writing the script, he produced and financed the picture himself too, via his Cheetah Vision Films production company. Director Van Peebles also acts in the film along with Ray Liotta, who plays Barnes' doctor, and Lynn Whitfield.
50 is taking the actor/rapper/mogul tag seriously. He recently signed on to star in a crime drama called "Freelancers," which is going to be directed by Jesse Terrero. On the music side, the rapper is getting the buzz going on his forthcoming album, Black Magic, releasing a couple of new songs ("When I Come Back," "Run Up on Me" freestyle) online to whet fans' appetites. 50 also recently followed in the footsteps of Dr. Dre and launched his own high-end headphone line called Sleek by 50 Cent.

Grammy 2011 Snubs Include Adam Lambert, Ke$ha, Big Boi, Rihanna

While Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber were both nominated, they didn't get as much love as some expected.By Gil Kaufman

Ke$ha

Photo: Jordan Strauss/ Getty Images

You hear it all the time: "I'm just thankful to be nominated." It's the gracious and polite thing to say, and artists who lose out on major awards always feel compelled to offer it up.
But what if you never even get nominated?
Every year, there are head-slapping omissions from the roster of nominees at the big awards-fests (Christopher Nolan at the Oscars, anyone?), and this year's 53rd annual Grammy Awards (which take place February 13) are no exception.
In the night's biggest category, Album of the Year, there was plenty of griping from critics about the inclusion of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, which many considered too lightweight for the night's top prize. But there was also a bit of talk about Justin Bieber's smash My World 2.0 not making it into the mix in the major categories, even if Bieber can lick his wounds with his Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album love.
Though the rules about the Best New Artist category have since been changed to avoid such a problem in the future, Lady Gaga has been the victim of Grammy snubs before. She earned six nominations this year, including coveted Album of the Year for The Fame Monster, but it was mystifying that her huge hit, "Bad Romance," didn't get any Record or Song of the Year nominations.
What gives?
"They want her for ratings, but I think the Grammys are still a bit freaked out by Gaga," said Entertainment Weekly music writer Leah Greenblatt. "There were so many shenanigans about her not being nominated for Best New Artist that I think the Grammys got shamed over that. It's possible they would try to make it up to her by showering her with nominations and I could see her win in major categories [in the future], but I think they're not quite ready for her." That could, of course, change next year when Gaga's Born This Way is in the running.
Another diva used to serious Grammy love, Alicia Keys, was totally shut out for her The Element of Freedom album. "It's interesting that Alicia Keys got nothing," she said. "Her and John Mayer are practically on the ballots every year whether they qualify for eligibility or not. And I think 'Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart' was one of the year's best singles." And reclusive Grammy bait Sade got a pair of notices for her singles "Soldier of Love" and "Babyfather" in the R&B categories but no chance at any of the big prizes. Greenblatt said she was surprised by both snubs, especially since Sade's Soldier of Love album was one of the top sellers of 2010 and because the enigmatic singer had been away for nearly a decade and came back in fine, mature form, the kind of story the Grammys love to honor.
There were some eyebrows raised over the single nomination for "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert, who had a solid and creatively rich hit album with his debut, For Your Entertainment, but just a single nod for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Whataya Want From Me."
With Perry strutting into a number of top categories thanks to her light-as-air pop confections, it was a wonder that another pop tart with huge digital sales and big chart hits (things the Recording Academy likes to see), Ke$ha, was completely shut out of the game. Greenblatt thought the Lambert dis might fall into the same Gaga territory, with the Academy being a bit freaked out by the singer's out-and-proud persona and over-the-top antics, but when it comes to Ke$ha, she said it's probably a different story. "She had a huge impact, but I think the Grammys think she might go away, and they've chosen not to legitimize her," she speculated.
Speaking of big sales, quite a few people commented on the fact that Train's smash "Hey, Soul Sister," the best-selling single of 2010, got just one notice for a little-heard live version in the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group category.
A couple of well-respected hip-hop acts were also conspicuously absent from the nominations list, including Outkast's Big Boi, whose acclaimed Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was left out of the Best Rap Album category, along with Rick Ross, whose Teflon Don got no love. "Rick Ross is the kind of artist made to be ignored by the Grammys," Greenblatt said. "He has a sensibility the Grammys will almost never come around to, no matter how beloved he is by rap fans."
But given that she thought Chico Dusty was one of the best albums of 2010, Greenblatt was stunned by the freeze-out of Big Boi, who has been showered with Grammy love in the past. "It's such an achievement, a fully realized album that feels like a real tapestry, a headphones album from someone whose skills are so singular ... [from] one of the most iconic and Grammy-approved hip-hop acts of all time."
Rihanna's Rated R was also eligible but got stiffed in the major categories, landing just a Best Dance Recording nod for "Only Girl (In the World)" for her single from last year's Loud and a number of notices for her work on Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie." And if you thought Kanye West got ripped off when My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy got blanked, don't worry: It wasn't eligible this year but is in the hunt for next year.
The one omission that seemed to make sense was the two small nominations for the kids from "Glee," who are up for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for their cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin' " and for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Glee: Vol. 1. Though they set cash registers ringing like crazy, it's no wonder that actors singing covers didn't garner attention at a show that ostensibly awards creativity. And no one seemed too shocked that Christina Aguilera's poorly received Bionic was ignored.
Who do you think got stiffed by the Grammys? Share your top snubs in the comments.

Lil Wayne 'You & I' Sneak Peek Hits The Net

Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex previews melodic track believed to be from DJ Drama and DJ Woogie mixtape.By Jayson Rodriguez

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne made the transition from star to superstar with his extraordinary work ethic, releasing a slew of mixtape material and reaching the tipping point with 2008's Tha Carter III.
Since his release from prison late last year, however, the Cash Money Records artist has been conservative about putting out new official offerings, aside from his own "6 Foot 7 Foot." But a snippet of a new Weezy track, "You & I," surfaced online on Thursday (February 24) and it appears to be from a forthcoming DJ Drama and DJ Woogie mixtape.
"All we do is fuss and f--- / Over this and that and such and such," Wayne raps on the number.
"Man, I think I gotta toughen up/ Love knocks you down/ And it feels like I been sucker-punched/ But I love her like new money/ I ain't going nowhere like Al Bundy/ I'm like how can I leave her?/ Love is a bitch but everybody need her/ Inhale, exhale, I just need a breather/ Call a timeout and watch the cheerleaders/ And when I'm not feeling the same, I just drive my Bugatti down memory lane/ And come back to you."
In addition to ""6 Foot" and "You & I," Wayne has loaned his rhymes to a remix of Bruno Mars' "Grenade", Birdman's "Fire Flame" and a Super Bowl edition of Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow."
Wayne is scheduled to debut his "6 Foot" video on MTV soon.

Dr. Dre's 'I Need A Doctor' Video Premieres

Nostalgic clip, featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey, reflects on producer/rapper's career.By Alvin Blanco

Dr. Dre

Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage

Dr. Dre is back on call. The veteran hip-hop producer, rapper and executive debuted the video for "I Need a Doctor," the second single from his highly anticipated third solo album Detox.
The video opens up with Dre reminiscing about his career. While driving, he gets into a severe car accident, leaving his protégé Eminem to ponder if his friend will survive.

The song then kicks off with the Detroit rapper's two verses, in which Em reiterates his loyalty to the man who signed him to Aftermath Records and how he still believes in him even when Dre himself might be second-guessing himself. Slim Shady is seen rapping passionately toward Dr. Dre's body while it appears to be held in stasis in a water tank, no doubt to heal his injuries.
By the time we get to Dre's third and closing verse, he is finally brought back to life, dropping bars about why the rap game needs him. "It literally feels like a lifetime ago/ But I still remember the sh-- like it was just yesterday, though," Dre raps to open his verse. Appropriately, the video features a montage of nostalgia-inducing photographs and archival video footage of Dr. Dre throughout his 25-plus-year music career. From early N.W.A to Death Row to Aftermath, the breadth and diversity of Dre's career is placed in perspective.
Much has been said about Dre's workout habits and in the video he looks like an elite bodybuilding specimen. While kicking his verse, he is seen working out, performing dips, crunches and other muscle-straining exercises.
The video ends with Dr. Dre visiting the grave of his late N.W.A partner Eric "Eazy-E" Wright, who died of AIDS in 1995.
Dr. Dre and Eminem, along with Skylar Grey, performed the song at the 2011 Grammy Awards. There is still no firm release date for Detox.

Oscars Best And Worst Fashions: Experts Weigh In!

MTV News asked a pair of fashion-industry notables to share their choices for the best and worst looks in Oscars history.By Jocelyn Vena

Miley Cyrus at the 2010 Oscars

Photo: Getty Images

The Academy Awards are just days away and that means that soon enough some of Hollywood's biggest names will be hitting the red carpet while donning some of the most haute couture they can get their hands on. But, before they hit the carpet, MTV News reached out to some fashion-world experts and asked them to weigh in on the event's best and worst looks ever, which the stars perhaps should take note of before they decide on what to wear.
We caught up with fashion-industry maven and People's Revolution founder Kelly Cutrone, as well as Faran Krentcil, digital director at Nylon magazine, who divulged their favorite and least favorite looks from Oscars history.
Best
Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta, 2010:
Both Cutrone and Krentchil agreed that this was a winning look for the star. "On another actress it might have looked a little overdone, but Cameron managed to make the dress look like it was just lying on her bedroom floor, and she grabbed it on her way out of the bath. That's true star power, isn't it?" Krentcil explained.
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten, 2010:
"I think that it's not that hard to put a beautiful dress on a girl and get away with it, and then there are people who really understand it ... I think that Maggie Gyllenhaal was a great example of that," Cutrone revealed. "Dries was not obvious; it's an inside brand. It's really about beauty and aesthetic."
Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham, 2010:
Cutrone felt that Miley's look bridged the singer/actress from, well, tween star to teen star. She explained, "The truth of the matter is she has gone from a Disney star to a Vanity Fair cover girl and it brought it back to the middle. [She] really shined."
Natalie Portman in Lanvin, 2005:
"This dress was slightly see-through and the color of a gasping sea monster," Krentcil recalled of the outfit. "And its floaty shape and grey-blue-green-purple shimmer made it beyond chic."
Anne Hathaway in Valentino, 2009:
Krentcil didn't have much more to say than "yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes," about why the beaded, white sheath worked so well for this year's Oscars co-host.
Worst
Charlize Theron in Dior, 2010:
"She looked ridiculous and she's so beautiful. She deserved to wear something better," Cutrone noted, adding about the outdated nature of the dress, "It looked like a Gaultier throwback piece, not like Dior. I didn't know Nancy Reagan was working for Dior."
Jennifer Lopez in Giorgio Armani Privé, 2010:
"All those angular pieces, they look bizarre, and I'm hoping that this season we get rid of the asymmetrical art pieces," Cutrone explained about the Gaga-esque style J. Lo wore.
Angelina Jolie, 2000:
Jolie went gothy that year and Krentcil explained that "the whole thing was so Addams Family weird, when she started making out with her brother, we were too distracted to notice."
Gwyneth Paltrow in Alexander McQueen, 2002:
While noting that Paltrow's Ralph Lauren dress in 1999 tops her list for great looks, Krentcil said about her 2002 look, "The thing is, the dress would have worked without the bun hair and the weird chunky necklace — go with a practically bare face and loose, wavy tresses and all of a sudden, everyone would have wondered why they weren't as cool as Gwyneth."
Kate Winslet, 1998:
"Kate Winslet was my favorite actress in high school, so I was really disappointed when she showed up in an Oscar gown that looked like Maria Von Trapp had made it from the Sound of Music curtains," Krentcil explained. Beyonce Working With Kanye West Producer S1

'Power' producer tweets he's 'finishing up some monsters' after week in the studio with B.By James Montgomery

Beyoncé's already taken inspiration from the likes of Michael Jackson and Lauryn Hill, hit the studio with a list of producers that includes Ne-Yo, Sean Garrett and Jim Jonsin, and now, she's hoping to capture the surge of Kanye West's "Power."
B — who's already hard at work on the follow-up to her massive I Am ... Sasha Fierce album — just wrapped a week in the studio with producer S1, the man who co-produced "Power" and has logged time with the likes of Ghostface Killah and Erykah Badu.
S1 broke the news via his Twitter account and also posted a photo of himself and B over on his official site. And from the sound of things, the sessions, which took place in New York City, were definitely eventful.
"A couple of meetings then back in the lab with Beyonce today," he wrote in one tweet. "Excited to see what we're gonna create today after last night's session.
"Not going to bed anytime soon. Beyonce got us in here working and I'm loving every bit of it," he wrote in another post. "Finishing up some monsters ... everything is sounding really great and big!"
There's still not much information about Beyoncé's new album, though in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" last year, she said that, this time out, she's aiming to "make [her] own genre of music." In a follow-up interview with MTV News, she clarified that statement, explaining that she's "mixing every type of genre that I love" on the new album, and added, "I'm not in a box. It's not R&B. It's not typically pop. It's not rock. It's just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music."
What do you think S1's work with Beyoncé will sound like? Tell us in the comments!

Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him

'I have not been approached to fill in for Robert Plant on the Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be,' singer says.By Chris Harris

Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham.
Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour.

"I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour."
Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert."
Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant.
According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' "
"And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in."
In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there."
But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard."
Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way.
"It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like.
"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."
